Polarbröd is a family-owned, value-driven bakery från northern Sweden, rooted in a long tradition of baking craftmanship. The modern company has grown from a small family bakery to become Sweden´s third largest producer of bread. Today the company is owned by the children and grandchildren of the founders of the modern Polarbröd, Greta and Gösta Nilsson.

We specialize in soft portion bread and flatbreads made with carefully selected ingredients, combining great taste with high quality. Our product philosophy is built on sustainability and responsible production, making us a trusted choice for conscious consumers. The corporation consists of Polarbrödsgruppen and three subsidiaries, Polarbröd, Polarrenen, who themselves have 14 subsidiaries and PolarVentures. The corporation employs 270 people who focus on everything from baking bread and managing real estate properties, to sustainability to renewable energy and investments in companies that contribute to the transformation of the food system – to benefit the health of both people and the planet.

Production We bake around 30 000 tons of bread annually.
Real Estate Polarrenen owns 14 properties.
Wind power We own five wind turbines that produced 36 GWh 2025, which is  more than the corporation uses.
Certifications Polarbröd’s bakeries have BRC and ISO 14001 certifications. Our bakery in Bredbyn is also Krav-certified.
Locations We have three locations in northern Sweden: Älvsbyn, Bredbyn and Umeå.
Our markets Our breads are available in grocery stores throughout Sweden and in some European markets. We also sell Polarbröd products to food service and industry customers. Norway is our largest export market. Polarrenen’s areas of business include renewable energy, real estate and leasing.  Polarrenen’s properties are located in cities along the eastern coast of northern Sweden.
