About Polarbröd
Polarbröd is a family-owned company. The same family has been baking bread in Älvsbyn in northern Sweden since 1879. Today, the company is owned by the children and grandchildren of the founders of the modern Polarbröd, Greta and Gösta Nilsson.
Karin Bodin, who is part of the family’s fifth generation, is the CEO of corporation, Polarbrödsgruppen. Anders E Johansson is Polarbröd’s CEO.
The corporation has an annual turnover of about 1 billion Swedish crowns and employs 331 people. The parent company, Polarbrödsgruppen, supports the entire group of companies and focuses on issues of long-term, strategic importance. Polarkraft AB produces renewable energy, primarily wind power from the company’s four wind turbines, to meet the corporation’s electricity needs. Polarbröd owns 51% of Polfärskt Bröd, which provides support and service to 24 independent distribution companies throughout Sweden – from Gällivare in the north to Malmö in the south – who deliver fresh Polarbröd to grocery stores every day.
